Video games can be considered as a formation of mass media as we have seen that it attracts various ages’ groups throughout different parts of the world. Based on the users interest there are video games available to suit everyone’s needs, similarly to how there are different movie and music genres which are available. As from what we have seen in the video regarding Starcraft in South Korea that in certain parts of the world, video games are considered large forms of entertainment to the general public as a type of media source.

Video games are on a different medium from conventional movies and music since they require no physical interaction but only paying of its attention. Whereas video games require the user to interact constantly back and forth while receiving feedback, so that the strategic target can be accomplished. In addition video games require more of the senses to be utilized simultaneously functioning together to produce the desired outcome rather than just using your ears and eyes to view images and hear sound.

Video games are catching on from the earlier times, because in the past video games where just considered a source of medium for an individual. From this state it has evolved from a single player system to a multiplayer system, to now to a global village interaction system where it can be interconnected with gamers throughout our world, where they can play together. As well, the games which are being made today are more of a realistic experience from both the graphic and storyline perspective. As we saw the US Army video where the teens played the reality simulator where they actually felt that their presence was there, which even resulted in people to enlist and join. The games which are being made today are creating a whole new mass media experience from the past which has been one of the primary reasons why video games can be considered as a new mass media formation.
